In 2013, after the devastation done by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), Leah Construction & Development Corporation was tapped by Energy Development Corporation to rehabilitate all existing lightning protection system for 4 plants located in Ormoc, Leyte namely Tongonan, Mahangdong, Upper Mahiao, and Malitbog Plants.

This was an extremely important project as this was part of the efforts to energize the ravaged areas of the typhoon within a set period. Given LCDC’s expertise in lightning protection, we were once again chosen to be the preferred supplier for this project.

One of the challenges for LCDC this time was mobilizing during the holidays and at a time when some areas of the site where not passable and reachable. Further, electricity was still not available.

Despite these challenges, LCDC was able to install a total of 42 E.F. Lightning arresters in various structures such as administration offices, cooling towers, turbine buildings, and warehouses. The project had a total budget of 18 million Php and was completed within 90 days.
